 Lancashire kicks off in style
Despite the cold misty conditions this was a well fought game showing talent and
sportsmanship on both sides. It was a game that the region of Lancashire can be proud of.
Pumas took the early lead but the Buccaneers were determined to hold them and push back.
It was particularly pleasing to see James Mather and Jamie Willetts take the field,
their brothers having played for the Wolverines.

The first touchdown was caught by Tom McCooey but the Pumas were unable to add the further
point to the score. It took time to score the second touchdown which was converted for one point
by Rob Taylor, playing his first game.

The Buccaneers fought back with two touchdowns courtesy of Jamie Willetts. Ed Cairns of the Pumas intercepted the one point and ran it back to gain a point for the Pumas.

The Buccaneers scored again and the clock began ticking down with one minute to go. The Pumas mounted a final drive and the game clock expired with the ball in the air from Adam Ainscough to Adam Broomhead. Fortunately for the Pumas Adam caught the ball and it sealed the game.

All players enjoyed their first regional game and have arranged another game in four weeks time.
